History
Petco Lanka was established in 1984 November 20th by Mr. Karunasiri Hettiarachchi. Trading from a small electronics, electrical products sales and installation outlet at # 469e, Galle Road Colombo 03. He had a simple vision: To deliver a specialist range of products at a competitive price.

Mr. Dhammika Hettiarachchi the eldest son in the family being a car fanatic use to install car stereos and other electronic components for his car and his friends. This gave him a big exposure and experience. The response he got from his friends and the growing car community was overwhelming. This was a great motivation factor for him to start moving into car audio and gradually specializing in the trade.

Mr. Chaminda Hettiarachchi, the youngest in the family was abroad for a while had come down to support the expanding business. He was contributing a lot by looking after affairs with regards to the business. In 1999 November 10th Petco Lanka Car Audio (Pvt) Ltd was formed representing the car audio trade in Sri Lanka to its peak. This was when the board decided to open their first branch in High-level road, Nugegoda. Following the father's footsteps and the guidance from the eldest and second brother Mr. Jagath Hettiarachchi, Mr Chaminda took over the new branch expanding their product range and services.

Mr. Jagath, the second brother decides to open another branch at Nawala covering yet another inner suburb in Colombo. In 1999 July, Petcom Car Audio was opened adding another branch to their expanding list. In 2002 Petco Nugegoda branch was relocated to Kirilapone providing a state of the art showroom, which was also a listening room to check different models and brands before they were purchase.

Currently Petco Lanka is the largest Car Audio dealer in Sri Lanka with the biggest ever product range from fuse clips to car computers ('carputer'). Petco boasts about holding the authorized distributorships and dealerships with many world recognized brands such as Rockford Fosgate, Scosche, EFX, Lightning Audio, Ground Zero, Rodek, Caska, etc. Petco Lanka has become the local supplier for many Car Stereo shops in the island covering Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-eliya, Negombo, Kurunagala and n the countries capital.

The Kirilapone branch is the biggest showroom at present displaying the widest range of products with product listening and testing facilities, and a state of the art repair workshop. The Galle Road branch remains the same as it looked 23 years back. Mr Dhammika says that we will not change his Galle road shop into a trendy outlet, and wants to remember how it all started. He says he served the big and the small and will remain do the same in the future.

Petco Lanka will keep expanding and will evolve to be the best out of the best in the car audio trade contributing to the local industry and to satisfy their valuable customers and customer to be.
